As a part of the Unit 1 study of plants, students created Venn diagrams comparing plant and animal cells, and vascular and non- vascular plants.

In language arts, students were asked to investigate their names and write a paragraph about what it meant.

My Name Paragraph

My name is short and sweet, just like me. I always thought it sounded like the name of someone who was smart. If there was a scene for my name it would be in a school science lab. But names don't really have a fixed scene. I guess they mold into the shape of their owner. I think mine has, it's Ann Rebecca Williams. Ann for me, Rebecca for my grandmother, and Williams for my dad's side of the family. One thing that I've always pointed out about my last name is that it starts with a “W”. That's the twenty-third letter of the alphabet, so if I do anything in alphabetical I'm either last or second to last. Hopefully this will teach me the art of patience, but you can never be so sure. Even with it's many flaws my name will always truly be mine. Ann Rebecca Williams.

Social Studies - Fifth graders have studied early American colonies. Take a look at their Jamestown advertisements!
