First Grade

In art first grade students worked together to illustrate The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  As a class, we read the story without looking at the pictures and then each table was given one page of the book. Students worked to create a picture for their page.  A picture was taken of each drawing and it was put into Photostory.  The students then narrated the picture that they drew.

In music, first grade students have been learning about rhythms.  Mrs. Holsome wrote rhythms on the board for the students to clap. Students learned how to read whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, and the many kinds of rests.

First grade students have been playing Throw and Go Relay in PE.  In this relay students run around the cones in the PE room, shoot the ball into the basketball goal, and then pass the ball to the next person on their team.  In the Throw and Go Relay, students practice eye-hand coordination, cardiovascular endurance, and sportsmanship.
