Spotlighting Fifth Grade
1st & 2nd Six Weeks

Fifth Grade students Samantha and Stephanie investigate the inner workings of plants through the use of Science Discovery Works Software and laptops.  While doing this investigation, the students were able to see and discuss how food and water travel through plants.  They then brainstormed to create a list, in Microsoft Word, of various organisms that have similar “tube-like” structures.

After their math lesson on improper fractions, the students decided that it reminded them of a bobble head doll!  Three students collaborated on creating the following PowerPoint to connect their learning to the real world.

Students in Mrs. Davis' class are using our newest wireless laptops with the Vanguard Read 180 software. This program engages the students in intensive individualized instruction to address their reading needs. The Read 180 software collects data based on individual responses in comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, word recognition, and spelling, and adjusts instruction to meet each student's needs.

In our Physical Education classes, we try to incorporate technology as much as we can.  In these photos, students are participating in fitness stations throughout the gym.  As a cooldown from physical activity, one of the stations allowed students to participate in an interactive activity using the SMARTBoard.  They had to test their knowledge of natural resources while becoming familiar wth using the SMARTBoard.
