During math, students were able to come up to the Smart Board to generate fractions on a number line. They were either given a fraction to find on a number line or given a point on a number line to find the fraction for. The students always enjoy incorporating the Smart Board into math lessons and being able to manipulate the Smart Board themselves. This really keeps the interest of the students in the lesson.
To study for a science benchmark, students were put into two teams to play Jeopardy. The students took turns answering review questions by buzzing in on an “Eggspert”, a device which allows them to quickly respond to questions by pressing a buzzer. They competed against the other team which kept them completely engaged in the review.
We incorporate Kidbiz into our daily routine at Owens Elementary. Each day, students are asked to log into this program, read a current event article, then answer discussion questions about the article. It is a wonderful program that promotes reading, thinking, and use of technology.
