Fourth Grade

Objectives

Science
  • The student will collect and analyze information using tools including computers.
  • The student will construct simple graphs, tables and charts to organize, examine and evaluate information.
  • The student will identify the planets in our solar system.
  • Fourth graders learned how to use Internet Explorer to collect and gather data. They then learned how to use MS Excel to organize data in a table and created a graph. With this information students were able to draw conclusions on why the outer planets generally had more moons then the inner planets. Math
  • The student will determine the area of a shape.

  • Anna in Ms. Lamxay's class learned how to determine the area of a shape using MS Excel software in computer lab. To do so she had to learn how to change the cell height and width in a spreadsheet into a square grid, select a group of cells, change it's color, and define it's border. She also learned how to write a mathematical formula for area using the cells that contained the length and width of each shape.
