Fourth Grade

Science-
4th grade Science students discovered all about their bodies through web-based research. Students were given assorted interactive web-sites to learn about all of their interesting Human Body Systems. From this list students selected interesting facts about each system that would help them describe the function of each system in their own words.

Language Arts-
This is a “Words Their Way” Spelling sort used with the Smartboard. The way it works is straightforward and interactive. Every student comes up to the board and drags a spelling word to the appropriate category. This pattern was working with the Long I sound, but using the patterns ie, y, ye, & igh. Through these kind of practices, the students begin to memorize spelling patterns rather than individual words to discover how words are spelled.

Social Studies-
Fourth graders used the SMART Board to create notes and charts on important explorers, missions, and Native American groups. They used symbols to help them remember important information as well as research skills to find facts from the book. Then, in Language Arts, students wrote a narrative using the information they learned in Social Studies.
