Langham Creek High School is a public high school located approximately
20 miles from downtown in the northwest suburban area of Houston,
Texas. The surrounding community is largely residential and commercial
and populated with middle and upper middle class families.
Langham Creek High School is a comprehensive
public high school consisting of grades 9,10, 11, and 12 with an
average enrollment of 3400 students. Langham Creek is one of the
eight high schools in the Cypress Fairbanks ISD.
Langham Creek High School is recognized as a strong, competitive
high school with a college preparatory curriculum and a variety of
vocational training programs, which includes Cosmeotology, Early Childhood
Professions, Auto Mechanics, Health Science Technology, and three different
cooperative work programs.
Langham Creek High School has traditional scheduling
with 55 minutes, five days a week, for a two-semester school year
of 36 weeks.
Students have the options of graduating
with one of three kinds of diploma: Minimum, Recommended or Distinguished
Achievement Program. Mastery of Texas Assessment of Knowledge and
Skills (TAKS) is mandatory for graduation.
Students are ranked in quartiles based on the weighted system. The
highest possible grade point average 6.86 on a 6.0 scale. The following
indicates the grade structure and grade points that may be earned by
students.
Cumulative class rank is based
on semester grades in all subjects and computed for all students
at the end of each school year. Dividing the total number of
grade points by the number of semester courses attempted derives
a students's grade point average. Students are placed into quartiles,
and individual ranks are reported. Students in Honors, Gifted/Talented,
and Advanced Placement classes earn one extra point.
