First Six Weeks |
|
In language arts the students are reading for important details, drawing conclusions, and making inferences. They are also writing self-evaluations, applying singular and plural nouns, and using the Six Traits.
The students are studying the 3 states of matter, using metric measurement, and identifying various forms of energy in science.
At the beginning of the year in math, the students are identifying place values to 6 digits, studying various types of patterns, and beginning to multiply.
In social studies, the students are identifying cardinal directions, reviewing map skills, and understanding what it takes to make a community. |

Second Six Weeks |
|
| This six weeks in language arts the students are analyzing character traits, making inferences and predictions, and drawing conclusions. They are reading from a variety of genres and identifying the importance of the setting to a story. | |
| They are having a lot of fun using an array to multiply in math. They are also locating and naming points on a number line using whole numbers. In addition they are learning and applying the multiplication facts through 12 using models. | |
| The students study thermal energy and heat in science. They are also investigating light and explaining how light and color are related in the energy system. | |
| In social studies the third graders study various explorers. To accomplish this they are studying our nation's history and learning about the past. | |
