First Six Weeks
In language arts, students are reviewing short vowel sounds, as well as, learning how to write complete senteces with nouns and verbs. They are also gathering ideas for writing in their writer's notebook.
In math they are reviewing numerals and their corresponding word names and learning the names of coins and their values. They are also practicing addition and subtraction and learning to read graphs. The students are also introduced to problem solving strategies, including put together and take away.
Second Six Weeks
In language arts, students are learning the consonant blends and the double consonants and practicing reading with fluency. Students are also working on organizing their writing and retelling important events and recognizing compound words and segmenting syllables in words.
In math students are studying tens and ones, skip counting, even and odd numbers.
  They are also adding and subtracting facts with their fact families.
