| Newspaper:
The school newspaper is published six times a year. Journalism
students learn the desktop publishing skills of writing,
editing, and copy layout. Printing of the newspaper is contracted
out to a local printer. Although the staff meets daily as
a regular class, sometimes after schoolwork is required to
meet publication deadlines. Selling ads is also a requirement.
The staff consists of students who are selected through an
application process. While Journalism I/Desktop Publishing
are a pre-requisite, students may join the staff with prior
approval of Ms. Casto.
Yearbook: The yearbook staff publishes
the school's yearbook. Students will learn the basics of
publication, production, photography and sales. Although
the staff meets daily as a regular class, after school
work is required at times in order to meet publication
deadlines. The staff consists of students who are selected
through an application process. While Journalism I/Desktop
Publishing are a pre-requisite, students may join the staff
with prior approval of Ms. Casto.
Quill and Scroll: This is an international
honorary society for high school journalism students. Selection
is based on grade level, GPA and contributions to the Journalism
program with the approval of Ms. Casto, Journalism adviser.
Students must be actively on the yearbook or newspaper
staffs to be eligible for Quill and Scroll. |
