Cypress Springs High School opened in 1997 with Allen Meek as the Principal. Only about 900 students attended, all of which were 9th and 10th graders.

Some interesting facts about the early years of Cy-Springs are:

  • Many students came from Langham Creek High School
  • The football team went undefeated
  • A tornado hit the school the first year
  • The second year brought a flood and another tornado
  • The faculty thought that they were prepared for the first day of school, but they didn't have any pencil sharpeners!

Cat Ostermen was a freshman
Now she's an Olympic gold medalist in women's softball
The band consisted of only about 40 kids Around 200 kids are members of the Panther Band.
We only had Junior Varsity athletics
We now have a variety of teams ranging from freshman to varsity
Only about 12 buses were needed for the entire school
We now use about 42 buses to transport students
