We Won The Championship!

After nearly a decade of robotics competitions, the STARS Robotics team scored a Championship placing at this weekend's BEST Robotics tournament in Conroe. The team is now qualified to attend the National Regional Event in Ft. Smith, Arkansas in December. This year's robot entry received the coveted "Most Robust" award as a tribute to its design and fabrication. Led by driving teams Frank Sebastianelli and Alex Almanza along with Joseph Sanchez and Tyler Shutts, the team ended the seeding rounds in second place to advance to the semi-finals. During the semi-finals, the team scored with solid performances and went into the final rounds in first place. The final round of the competition ended with Frank Sebastianelli and Alex Almanza scoring a perfect 650/650 round in the last second of play. Justin Merkey, Alex Acosta, and Adam Earls were also part of the winning team. Team sponsors Mr. Saenz and Mrs. Kingwell along with Mr. Lyndrup and Mr. McIntosh were on hand to cheer the STARS on to their historic victory.

Rocketry

Robotics

The rocketry department focuses on the development of aerospace vehicles and model rocketry. Club members will use computer-based models and simulations to design stable rockets capable of carrying technological payloads and sensors. This competitive department of STARS competes in various events sponsored by the National Association of Rocketry and the Aerospace Industry of America in various Texas locations. The club meets on an as needed basis. Most competitions are held on various weekends. Membership is open to all students. Come by and see Mr. Saenz or Mrs Kingwell for more information.

The robotics department focuses on the development of working vehicles capable of various functions. Club members design and build working robots throughout the year. This competitive department of STARS competes in multiple events such as BEST and FIRST. Each event allows the students to build a working robot in only six weeks. The club meets almost on a daily basis while building in the six week time period. Most competitions are held on various weekends and weekdays. Member ship is open to all students.
