MODEL UN
Sponsor: Keishla Ceaser-Jones
Room Number: 2310
Meetings: Mondays, 2:45 -4:15
Purpose: To prepare for conferences in which students assume the roles of UN delegates to debate, discuss, and seek resolution to the world issues with other area schools.
The Houston Area Model United Nations Conference (HAMUN) was hosted on February 5-6,2009 at the University of Houston and attended by thirteen Cy-Ridge students and their sponsor Mrs. Ceaser-Jones.
Several Cypress Ridge students have spent several months preparing for their ambassadorial roles for this conference. They have shown an extreme level of personal dedication and effort to immerse themselves in some of the most complicated issues our planet faces ranging from global terrorism and nuclear technology to the energy crisis and refugee issues.
Two Cypress Ridge students were recognized for outstanding work at the conference. First year delegates Ana Mantilla (senior) and Alex Ortiz (junior) received 2009 HAMUN Outstanding Delegate Awards for their work in diplomacy towards international cooperation in their committees. This is a huge honor to be singled out for recognition amongst over 600 students representing nearly 40 Houston-Area public and private schools.
Please congratulate all of the students on their work and accomplishments:
