Exemption Policy Changes
H1N1 is no longer a pandemic threat according to the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control (CDC). As a result, the temporary exemption policy in place for the past three semesters due to the impact of the pandemic on student attendance is no longer in effect.
CFISD is reinstating the regular exemption standards. All students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to earn exemptions from fall and spring semester exams based on grades (80 – 100) and attendance (no more than three absences) in a course.
Freshmen will be allowed one exemption; sophomores, two; and juniors, three each semester. Seniors will be allowed four exemptions at the end of the fall semester and seven during the spring semester.
More details are included in the Student Handbook (HB-13) posted online at www.cfisd.net.
