Journalism Awards

Over the weekend, 17 of the journalism students visited the University of Texas in Austin for the ILPC spring convention. There, three of the students were awarded with Individual Achievement Awards in which students all over the state of Texas compete for and submitted entries for.

Salvador Rodriguez received two honorable mention awards for two different Sports Action photographs.
Salvador Rodriguez, Diana Arzola, and Erum Hassan were also given bronze medals for their InDepth Coverage on iPods and the "i" generation.

On top of the individual awards, the 2007 Charger yearbook (Senior Uyen Truong, editor) was given an Achievement rating, the second highest honor and the 2007-2008 Rampage newspaper (Seniors Salvador Rodriguez and Taylor Ngo, editors) was given a Distinguished Merit honor, the highest rating given to scholastic newspapers!  The newspaper students are a little bummed because they did not receive the Star award they were hoping for, but being nominated was an honor in itself and now they have something to shoot for next year and for years to come.   Please congratulate all of the journalism students if you see them. They work very hard for the student body and the CyRidge community.
