Dr. Laura Underwood
Director of Instruction
Dr. Laura Underwood began her career in graphic design after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southwest Texas State University in 1985. After earning certification in art and English from Houston Baptist University in the late '80s, she began her 19 year career in education by first teaching at Alief's Alternative School then Alief Hastings High School. She was awarded a masters degree in Educational Administration from Houston Baptist University in 1992 and became an assistant principal at Hastings in 1994. She served in this capacity for 10 years before transitioning to Hightower High School in 2004 as an administrator. While at Hightower, she served as an assistant principal and dean of instruction. In December of 2007, Laura was awarded a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. She is delighted to be working in an academic capacity with the new staff and students at Cypress Ranch. GO MUSTANGS!
