Cynthia Douglas
Choir Director
Cynthia Douglas, currently the Assistant Choir Director at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, TX, will be opening Cy-Ranch High School as the Head Choir Director in the fall of 2008. Ms. Douglas has directed choirs at the middle and high school level, consistently earning Sweepstakes at UIL and high honors at festival competitions, since returning to Texas in 2002. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Music and a Master’s of Music in Voice Performance at Stephen F. Austin State University, she taught elementary music in Michigan, and later taught voice at University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and Millikin University. Former voice students include winners of regional and national vocal competitions, and members of original Broadway casts. Before returning to directing choirs at the secondary level, Ms. Douglas performed with regional orchestras and opera companies, including Opera Maine, Opera Lenawee, Opera Company of Mid-Michigan, and Pamero Opera. She recorded the CD Blue Shades for Frank Ticheli, making the premier recording of his song cycle for soprano, saxophone, and piano.
