National Honor Society

 

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

National Honor Society- an academic organization to honor students who exhibit scholarship, leadership, character, and service.

Purpose: to promote service through volunteering and mentoring in campus and community-related projects.

Service: Members must complete fifteen in-school and five out-of-school hours. One service project MUST be an NHS sponsored project.

All sign-up sheets are located outside Mrs. Clarkson's classroom: Room #8027.

Dues: 5$ per semester and 10$ for the T- Shirt

NHS Meetings: 1st Tuesday of the month

Current Service Projects:

Scheduled Projects:

  • *Teacher Appreciation coming up in April, items may include the following:
    notebook paper, pens (blue, black, and red), post-it notes, staples, pink erasers, markers, sharpies, rubberbands, rulers, typing paper, pocket folders (with brads), hand pencil sharpeners, tape, paper clips, overhead markers (brand=Vis-a-Vis), index cards, kleenex, hand sanitizer, white-out, Expo markers, and scissors. NO gift cards!!!
     $5 per hour, maximum of five hours.

On-going Projects:

  • Cy-Fair High School Library needs volunteers before and after school. Contact Mrs. Kithcart.

  • Farney Elementary needs after school volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour. Contact person: Beth Bush, (281) 373-2860

  • Poodle Rescue of Houston; Contact Guinnette Peebles @ 13302 Schroeder Road.

  • Autumn Grove Cottage- a small assisted living community serving individuals with Alzheimers and related dementias; Contact person: Netta Prudhomme- 8524 Copperbrook Drive- or visit www.autumngrove.net
  • Tutors at Warner Elementary- needs regular tutors once or twice a week. See Mrs. Clarkson for details.
