Language Arts: Personal Narratives
We are currently working on writing our very own personal narratives. A major step with writing is webbing, or outlining the components of our papers.We created a web using Kidspiration. We had so much fun with this, and it was a great way for us to get to know one another at the beginning of the year.
Social Studies: Communities
We are studying our roles in our neighborhoods and communities, learning map skills, and creating environments inside our classrooms that reflect our roles in the community.During this unit, the students had the opportunity to design and draw pictures of their individual communities using computer software called Kid Pix Studio.
Theater Arts: Reader's Theater
We are creating masks for our upcoming Reader's Theater. We will be acting out a emotions and a variety of plots along with taking on different characters in our stories.Once we have finished our plays, each student will have the opportunity to create a venn diagram using kidspiration in order to compare and contrast themselves to the character they portrayed.
