Fourth Grade
First Six Weeks

Reading: Genres

We are currently learning to recognize and distinguish the different types of literacy genres. We used an inspiration activity to compare and link the genres.

We worked in groups to research each genre, and were required to support our research with evidence and examples of books.

This is an example of our inspiration activities.
Second Six Weeks

Science: Animal Adaptation

We are learning about the five kingdoms this six weeks. As we explore the animal kingdom, we're identifying specific adaptations that help animals survive in their habitats.

We navigated a virtual unit in order to recognize and relate insect traits and charcteristics. The students recognized that many insects have unique adaptations for both eating and surviving.

Third Six Weeks
Language Arts: Native Americans

We are currently studying the Native Americans. We are navigating through the Trackstar website, importing meaningful data onto word documents and spreadsheets. We're searching and identifying imformation that is specific to each of our Native America tribes.

We then created powerpoint shows using our research. We presented our powerpoints to our classes and then defended our research by writing a compare and contrast paper. We contrasted our lives to those of the Native American tribes.
