Fifth Grade
First Six Weeks

Math: Prime & Composite Numbers

We are currently learning the difference between prime and composite numbers. We began making factor trees to indentify the prime factorization of different numbers.

Recently, we applied our knowledge of prime and composite numbers to help us play a game of Jeopardy on the laptops. Click the link to the side to play our game!

Second Six Weeks

Reading: READ 180

In READ 180, we are using technology everyday to build our reading comprehension, spell words accurately, and develop vocabulary. Now in workshop 2, we are learning about immigration into America.

We focused this six weeks on putting events in sequential order and reviewing last six weeks' objective of determining the main idea. In the READ 180 rotations, we read in small groups, independently, and at both desktop and laptop computers. Exciting and great THINGS are happening in our classrooms!

Third Six Weeks

Science: Cycles

In science, we are learning that cycles exist in our everyday lives. We are discovering they can be as simple as washing your clothes or as complex as Carbon Dioxide.

We manipulated parts of the Carbon Dioxide Cycle on a smartboard. We were able to put key vocabulary, functions, and illustrations in order to form the cycle. This was a memorable way for us to learn about cycles!
